  • Decreased Urination.
  • Diarrhea

After 24 hours, if the cat is left untreated, it may suffer an acute kidney failure and eventual death.

That is why it is important to keep your cat away from any trays containing grapes or raisins. Even a single raisin could have disastrous consequences for a cat.  Don’t even think of feeding your cat a single raisin as a treat.

The reason is still unknown as to why raisins are dangerous for your cat as they haven’t been well documented.  Although there have been hypotheses, the consensus would be that raisins are naturally filled with high sugary content and carbohydrates.

Both of which cats don’t really need at all, aside from that, there hasn’t been a clear explanation as to why raisins wreak havoc inside a cat’s system once it is consumed.

The only thing to know for sure is the fact that raisins and any other sort of product that contains it would be dangerous for your cat, this is not just related to fruits.

Raisins are also baked with cakes and are put as garnishes on various sweet products to enhance the taste.  Just make sure to take a note that you don’t accidentally give your cat a sweet product that is filled with raisins.

Various products like cakes also include raisins, which is why you should always look out for raisins if you are intending to feed a sweet product to your cat as a treat to make sure that they are not unintentionally poisoned by your best interests.

If your cat does consume even a single raisin due to a mishap on your part, contact your veterinarian immediately and get your cat treated as soon as possible.
